More Obscure 13'ers

My husband and I saw these peaks when we climbed Grizzly Mountain last weekend (see trip report). They looked fun ... especially with the connecting ridge in between the two. Use the same trail/route description as on the Grizzly Mountain trip report. After you have hike the mining trail to the ridge connecting to Calico Mountain, turn left (or west) and scramble up the rocky ridge to the top of Unnamed 13,070 (there is a summit register). From the top of 13,070, you have a great view of the ridge connecting to Pomeroy Mountain. It is .6 mile in length with about 350' elevation loss (it took us an hour to get from one summit to the other). Descend the ridge to the low point and let the fun begin! The route up to Pomeroy is on good rock (if you follow the ridge proper) with some exposure. You have the option to bypass ridge obstacles on either the left (east) or right (west) side of the ridge and doing so would reduce the difficulty of this climb to a Class 2. The summit of Pomeroy Mountain offers wonderful views and did have a summit canister but, alas, no register. Descend back down to the valley via numerous options. Rejoin the 4WD road that you hiked in on. Approximately 12 miles roundtrip. Happy Trails!
