Contributors

  1. Bill Hauser compiled the original handwritten version of this peak list. He can be reached at the address shown in Appendix 7 of Gary Suttle’s book, California County Summits.
  2. John Sarna designed the webpage to make this list generally available to the public.
  3. 2012: Bob Burd provided review, corrections, and a location-finder map.

The following peaks were removed from the list as they were not able to be located following review. If anyone knows where to "find" these summits, please send info to Bob Burd.

  • Black Mtn 7580' in Siskiyou County
  • Weller Peak 2450' in Alameda County

Warning:

The Western States Climbers do not maintain this list, but provide access to it on this webpage for interested parties. This list of peaks was never adopted as an official peak list by any organization, so not many hikers/climbers have had a chance to review and revise this list of peaks for dominance in an area, aesthetics (exceptional views), climbing difficulty, and access.  In addition, no one has developed criteria for significant accomplishments in climbing peaks on this list, so the WSC does not include any entries for this list on its Internet Recognition List of Emblem Holders and List Finishers.

Hiking and climbing conditions do change, and some information given here is subjective. The Western States Climbers do not accept responsibility for outdated or incorrect information. Please help future climbers by sending corrections to John Sarna.
