I enjoy the mountain experience, the practice of mountains. Prefer simple, non-technical climbing and long distance travel, especially off-trail, but I'm up for virtually anything. I am somewhat baffled by the obsession many have with summiting, which is but one part of the mountaineering experience. This obsession causes all kinds of problems.
Things I like: Natural history, especially plants/vegetation. Mountain streams. Clouds. Silence.
Things I could do without: Nearby lightning. Smoke. Poison oak. Excessive talk.
