    Bear box 'BP01'

    1. BP01 is 1 standard box, at about 7800 feet, in the Big Pine Creek Drainage region.

    2. Directions from Steve Eckert, with GPS waypoint, Aug 2001:
      One standard box right next to the outhouse at the trailhead where a gate blocks the paved road at day use parking. Often a smelly place to wait for cars to shuttle packs!

    3. Find waypoint BP01 in region waypoints or all waypoints file.
      (NAD83 decimal degrees or NAD27 UTM data suitable for TOPO! software or Waypoint+ software)
        (lat,lon) = (37.1251700, -118.4369900) in decimal degrees, NAD83.
  (zone,east,north) = (11S, 372429.0, 4109527.0) in decimal meters, NAD27.
    4. Next box is BP02: Upper Backpacker Parking Lot.

    5. Scroll down for a regional map of the entire Big Pine Creek Drainage region.

    6. Use Google Maps or Google Earth to view this region overlaid with roads and trails on satellite images or maps.
