I've taught at San Lorenzo Middle School for thirty years. My wife Phyllis and I have been married for twenty-eight years. We have two sons ? Jeremy, 22 and Jon, 17 ? and make our home in King City, California. I've been climbing for twenty-four years in the Sierra Nevada and Yosemite. My home crags are the pinnacles of Pinnacles National Monument. I'm mostly a duffer - 5.8 and 5.9 leads - but I got myself back up to leading 5.10 this past summer. That was Dave Gregory's fault. Favorite Peaks? Mt Humphries and Cathedral Peak, recently; North Pal, Sill, and the East Face of Whitney in years past. I was most recently terrified in the Needles -- a 150 foot friction runout on Magic Dragon, the Magician. My writing about climbing has been published in Ascent, in "High" magazine, and in "The Climbing Art". Three of my books for children have been published. I've attached a picture of me and my oldest son, Jeremy, on top of Half Dome after an ascent of Snake Dike last year.
