Sirretta Peak, named for Hippolyte Sarret

16 May 2001 - Kelley Long

Kelley Long writes:

I am a descendent of an early settler of Kern County. From reading Mary Grace Paquette's book "Lest We Forget: The History of The French in Kern County," Sirretta Peak is named after Hyppolite "Harry" Sarret who is my great-great grandfather. The book is out of print and I have not had any luck getting one on order. However, I was fortunate to find a distant cousin who lives in Bakersfield who loaned me their book. And I believe that Poso Flat and Greenhorn mountain were two locations the family originally lived and ranched.
