Correction to Secor
Scimitar Pass
by Don Borad
Lois Olson and I attempted Scimitar Pass for the purpose of getting Sill from
the Southwest. We camped at Elinore Lake and went up to survey the pass. We
could see that the pass was an easy walk along the top of the ridge.
However, we couldn't get there. The ridge top was about 100+ feet above us
atop a nearly vertical cliff. It seemed to me that climbing it would require
equipment for a 4th or 5th class pitch. Since we had no such equipment, we
backed off. Very disappointing.
